I am trying to solve the following question:
The server (1) can handle the workload from servers (2) and (3) equally well. The servers (2) and (3) can handle the workload equally well as (1). The servers (2) and (3) are under high workload while (1) is under low workload.
(a) Determine the steady state arrival rate in the system with two servers (1) and (2).
(b) Determine the steady state arrival rate in the system with three servers (1), (2) and (3).
For (a), I decided to use Poisson approximation for the amount of servers.
For (b), I am unsure if I should use Poisson approximation or not. My approach for (b) is as follows:
In order to determine the steady state arrival rate of the system, I calculate the average number of arrivals by dividing the total service time by the average service time. I then solve the equation using poisson approximation.
I am not entirely sure if my method is correct.

Poisson Approximation is fine. You can handle the problem as follows. Assume that the arrival process for server 1 and 2 are independent. So the time between consecutive arrivals at 1 and 2 are independent of each other and hence if the average waiting time in each queue is $T$, the average time between consecutive arrivals is $2T$. So the arrival rate for the two queues is $2T/T=2$. So the steady state arrival rate in the system is $4$.
Similarly for 3 servers, the average time between consecutive arrivals is $3T$, and the steady state arrival rate is $3$.
